How to Play Madden NFL 2005
Quick start
Choose a short exhibition game or Practice with one team. Select a simple running play, read the down and yards needed, then snap and follow the blocking. Try one short pass next, checking the receiver marker before throwing. Review the result before changing formations.
Controls
Use the Control Pad to move; with the ball A bursts, B spins, X dives, Y stiff-arms and L/R juke. Choose plays, audibles or hot routes through lower-screen menus; tapping a receiver is an available pass option. Kicks use the lower direction and power meters.
Madden NFL 2005 — About this game
Madden NFL 2005 introduces DS football with a three-dimensional game above and an X-and-O field overview below. Select formations on the touch screen, adjust an audible or hot route and use the overview to notice a receiver separating from coverage. Quick games, a single Season, Practice, Situation and Two Minute Drill let you choose a session's length. Kicking uses direction and power meters, while ordinary ball carrying includes bursts, spins and jukes. Begin with one running play and a short pass, then compare both views before choosing the next call. Its season ends after the playoffs; the later DS games' multi-year Franchise is not part of this edition. Begin with the opening instructions and practice the main interaction before pursuing optional rewards. Read the current objective, make one deliberate choice and watch its effect before repeating it. A short first session makes it easier to separate a missed instruction from a difficult challenge. Return to the available menu when you need to check progress or adjust your approach, then continue from the next clear objective.
