How to Play Marble Madness
Quick start
Use SELECT to choose one or two players, then press START. Enter your name with the D-pad and A, select END, then choose a direction setting with Up/Down and A. Start with Horizontal (90°) for screen-aligned movement. In the Practice Race, aim for the marked goal and learn the slopes before using long turbo bursts. Ease off near edges; recovering from a fall spends valuable seconds.
Controls
D-pad: steer the marble and move menu/name-entry selections. A: turbo acceleration during play; confirm a letter or direction setting. SELECT: choose one or two players. START: begin, pause and resume. Horizontal (90°) follows screen directions; Diagonal (45°) rotates the directional mapping.
Marble Madness — About this game
Marble Madness asks for speed without losing control. Each of its six courses sends a marble along slopes, narrow ledges and branching paths toward a goal line, with a timer deciding when the run is over. Black marbles and other hazards can knock you off course, while a steep drop can shatter the ball. Replacements are unlimited, but waiting for one costs time. The Practice Race gives you room to learn the movement before the later courses demand much tighter lines. Shortcuts reward familiarity: on the Beginner Race, the easier detour takes longer than the narrow route reached through a chute. Two players can race simultaneously with blue and red marbles. Both share the same hazardous space, making a clean approach to the finish as important as raw acceleration.
