How to Play Mario Golf
Quick start
Create a new player and choose a golfer for the adventure. Begin at Marion Club, talk to the people there and try the practice facilities before entering a tournament. On your first shots, check the distance and wind, choose a club, then practise the A-button swing sequence at moderate power.
Controls
D-pad: move in club areas; adjust aim and club selection before a shot. A: talk and confirm; during the swing, press to start the meter, press again to set power and again to set impact timing. B: cancel in menus or toggle a power shot before swinging. START: pause.
Mario Golf — About this game
Mario Golf for Game Boy Color combines course play with a character-building adventure. Choose a golfer, practise at golf clubs and improve your abilities as tournaments give you new goals. Each shot asks you to judge distance, wind, club choice and timing rather than simply hit as hard as possible.
The handheld story lets you explore club facilities and speak to other golfers between rounds. Training and experience develop your player, while different courses introduce new terrain and hazards. On the fairway, a well-placed shorter shot can be more useful than reaching maximum distance and landing in trouble.
