How to Play Mario Hoops 3-on-3
Quick start
Choose Challenges on the main menu, then Practice, and follow the lessons on movement, dribbling, passing and shooting. Use the right-handed setting for the controls below. Once comfortable, select Exhibition, choose three players and an opponent, then begin a CPU match. Collect coins over question panels and finish with a basket to turn them into points.
Controls
Right-handed setting: move with the Control Pad and tap the touch screen repeatedly to dribble. Stroke left or right to pass; stroke upward to shoot while holding the ball. On defense, stroke downward to steal or upward to jump and block; tap L to switch to a teammate near the ball. START pauses and SELECT toggles the player marker. Help Button in Options enables optional button shortcuts.
Mario Hoops 3-on-3 — About this game
Mario and his rivals turn basketball into a three-on-three contest where a good scoring chance is only part of the plan. Dribbling over question panels earns coins that are added to your next successful basket, so protecting a full coin total matters as much as reaching the hoop. Items disrupt the opposing team, while each character has a special shot entered with a touch-screen pattern. The top screen shows the action and the lower screen helps you track the court. Practice challenges teach the unusual controls before you take a team into an exhibition or tournament.
