How to Play Mario Tennis
Quick start
For a quick introduction, choose Exhibition, select a character and start a match. Move into the ball’s path and alternate A topspin with B slices. For the longer adventure, create a Mario Tour file, choose Alex or Nina and follow the academy introduction.
Controls
Direction pad: move and aim shots. A: topspin. B: slice. A then B: lob. B then A: drop shot. A+B together: flat shot or smash when appropriate. Press A or B twice to charge the corresponding shot, reducing movement speed. START: pause.

Mario Tennis on Game Boy Color combines tennis matches with a role-playing journey through the Royal Tennis Academy. Choose Alex or Nina for Mario Tour, train and improve your player, or enter Exhibition to play matches with familiar Mario characters.
Success depends on positioning and shot selection: topspin, slices, lobs and drop shots force opponents to cover different parts of the court. Academy progression gives practice a purpose as your player develops and faces stronger rivals.
