How to Play Mario vs. Donkey Kong
Quick start
Choose Game, open the first world and enter 1-1. In the first section, use the coloured switches to clear a route, pick up the key with B and carry it to the locked door before its return timer expires. In the second section, reach the Mini-Mario capsule; collect all three presents when the route is safe to earn a bonus chance, but prioritize the key and exit while learning the stage.
Controls
D-pad moves Mario, climbs ladders and moves on ropes or wires. A jumps or drops from a rope/wire; B picks up and throws objects or lets go. Press L or R to enter free-scroll view and use the D-pad to inspect the stage; START pauses. Down+A starts a handstand, A during it makes a handstand jump, reversing direction and pressing A while running makes a backflip, and Up+B throws a held object upward.
