How to Play Deadly Towers
Quick start
Press START at the title, then START again at the password screen to begin without entering a code. Learn eight-way movement and use A to throw the sword while staying clear of ledges. Collect enemy drops in an area you can handle before exploring deeper. Your initial weapon cannot launch another sword until the previous one leaves the screen, so allow room to retreat after a missed shot. At a shop, stand in front of the item and press A to buy it. SELECT opens the status and inventory screen; select a usable item and press A. Build up equipment before seeking the tower bells.
Controls
Control Pad: move in eight directions or move the selection cursor in the inventory and password screens. A: throw the sword, buy the item you are facing, use a selected inventory item, or enter a password character. B in the inventory: press twice on an unwanted item to discard it. SELECT: open the sub-screen. START: advance from the title to password entry, then begin play; leave the password blank and press START again for a new game. Record the password shown after game over to resume later. These details are checked against the Japanese Mashō manual.
Deadly Towers — About this game
Mashō combines projectile combat with a palace full of hidden routes. Prince Myer can move and throw his sword in eight directions, but his starting equipment offers little protection. Defeated enemies sometimes leave money for shops or hearts that help him survive, making equipment and recovery central to the journey. Beyond the palace passages lie towers, concealed dungeon entrances, and parallel areas holding further discoveries. Each tower's guardian protects a bell; collecting and burning all seven in the sacred flame opens the way to Rubas. Careful navigation is as useful as attacking, especially on narrow ledges where a hit can knock Myer off. This entry is the Japanese cartridge, with its original password-entry start sequence rather than an unofficial English patch.
