How to Play F-16 Fighting Falcon
Quick start
Let the opening sequence reach the cockpit. Begin with small steering movements on pad 1, keeping the horizon and altitude visible. Select a weapon with 1 and fire with 2. Use pad 2 to manage speed and targeting as you become familiar with the instruments.
Controls
Pad 1: left/right bank, up descends, down climbs; 1 selects weapons, 2 fires. Pad 2: up slows, down accelerates, left rapidly accelerates, right rapidly slows; 1 activates ECM, 2 changes lock-on. Pad 2 1+2 switches auto/manual, or ejects in EJECT mode.
F-16 Fighting Falcon — About this game
F-16 Fighter, also released as F-16 Fighting Falcon, places you inside the cockpit rather than above an overhead battlefield. Survival depends on reading the horizon, altitude, speed and enemy information while lining up attacks. The first control pad handles flight and weapons; the second handles throttle, countermeasures and target lock. Both pads operate the same aircraft. Climbing costs speed, while diving increases it, so chasing an enemy carelessly can put you in danger. Switch between guns and missiles, keep your instruments in view and use the flight assistance controls while learning the cockpit. Simultaneous two-player play requires two Mark III consoles linked through their keyboards’ printer ports; it is separate from using two pads for one aircraft.
