How to Play Ninja Gaiden
Quick start
Press 1 at the title. In the forest, use 1 to slash and 2 to jump. Try up+2 beneath a ledge, then 2 to pull up. At a wall, jump into it, hold 2 and press away toward the opposite wall. Use up+1 for a collected weapon.
Controls
Left/right: move; down: crouch, down+left/right: crouch-walk. 1: sword/start. 2: jump. Up+1: equipped weapon. Up+2: catch a ledge, then 2 climbs up. Against a wall, press away while holding 2 to wall-jump. 1 followed by 1+2: Ninja bombs.
Ninja Gaiden — About this game
Ninja Gaiden sends Ryu Hayabusa after the stolen Bushido scroll when his village is destroyed. This Master System adventure crosses eight stages, beginning in a trapped forest before reaching city streets and other dangerous strongholds. The Dragon Sword handles nearby enemies, while found weapons consume combat points and offer different ways to attack at range. Movement is equally important: Ryu can catch ledges, pull himself up and rebound between opposite walls to reach higher ground. Scroll containers provide weapons, healing and other supplies, so choose safe moments to open them. Learn the wall-jump rhythm before rushing into a crowded passage, and save weapon points for enemies that are difficult to approach with the sword.
