How to Play Rescue Mission
Quick start
Select Light Phaser input for port 1. Aim at the title screen and pull the trigger, then shoot the figure under EASY. In the jungle, cover the moving cart, hit attackers and their bullets, and leave the soldiers waving white flags unharmed.
Controls
Light Phaser: aim and pull the trigger to shoot. The trigger starts play and advances instruction screens. Aim at EASY, NORMAL or HARD and fire to select difficulty. Original hardware uses the gun in controller port 1; the cart moves and stops for treatment automatically.
Rescue Mission — About this game
Rescue Mission makes your aim the only protection for three unarmed medics travelling by handcart. They stop automatically to treat wounded soldiers beside the track, leaving you to shoot enemy troops and intercept incoming bullets. White flags identify the wounded: a careless shot kills a friend and loses the special item that treatment would have produced. The route crosses five battlefields, starting in a jungle and continuing through a swamp, village, bridge and ammunition depot. Each medic moves and treats patients at a different pace, so the exposure time changes as replacements take over. Keep your attention on threats near the cart rather than firing at every moving figure. You must escort a medic through the rescue stops to the field tent; losing all three ends the mission. Original controls use a Light Phaser in port 1, including aiming at the difficulty selection.
