How to Play Road Rash
Quick start
Press either button to leave the demonstration. Choose a course with left/right, highlight Start Race with up/down and confirm with 1 or 2. Hold 1 to accelerate, steer through traffic and use down to brake before bends. Attack with 2 only when a rival is close.
Controls
Left/right: steer. Down: brake. 1: accelerate. 2: attack. On foot, directions change your route back to the bike; either button stops running. Menus: up/down selects an item, left/right changes course or bike, either button confirms. Console Pause: pause.
Road Rash — About this game
Road Rash combines motorcycle racing with close-range fights on busy roads. You need a top-four finish on each of five courses to advance a level, so survival and consistent results matter as much as overtaking. Button 1 accelerates, down brakes and button 2 attacks a nearby rider; looking for a fight at the wrong moment can leave you exposed to traffic or a bend. Rider energy and motorcycle damage are separate concerns, and a ruined bike ends the race. After a crash you run back automatically, but can steer around traffic or stop to let it pass. Prize money buys better motorcycles, while passwords preserve progress between sessions. Two players take turns using controller 1 rather than sharing the road simultaneously. Start by learning a course and reaching the qualifying places, then decide whether a fight is worth the risk to your next upgrade.
