How to Play Mega Man 2 - 30th Anniversary Classic Cartridge

Quick start

Press START to leave the opening story. On the title screen, use SELECT to choose Normal or Difficult, then press START and choose a new game rather than Password. Move the stage cursor with the Control Pad and press START on a Robot Master. Try Air Man or Flash Man as suggested by the original manual. Practice A jumps and B shots before crossing hazards. START pauses and opens weapon selection; move up or down to a weapon and press START to resume. After a boss, choose Password and record the displayed pattern if you want to return later.

Controls

Left/right: move, including in the air. Up/down: climb ladders and navigate weapon selection. A: jump; hold it longer for a higher jump. B: fire the selected weapon. START: begin or confirm stage selection; during play, pause and open the weapon/item menu, then resume after choosing. SELECT on the title screen: choose Normal or Difficult. In password entry, move the cursor with the Control Pad and press A to place the recorded marks. Controls refer to the NES game, not keyboard bindings.

Mega Man 2 - 30th Anniversary Classic Cartridge — About this game

This anniversary cartridge brings Capcom's Mega Man 2 back to NES hardware; its commemorative presentation is not a new campaign. Choose among eight Robot Master stages and combine precise jumping with arm-cannon fire. Defeating a boss adds a weapon to your arsenal, so the order you tackle stages changes the tools available for later challenges. Special weapons have limited energy, encouraging you to save effective attacks for difficult enemies rather than spend every shot on routine obstacles. Energy Tanks provide a reserve recovery option, while passwords let you record progress between sessions. The anniversary release adds collector-focused packaging and a revised physical booklet; the publisher does not advertise new stages, bosses, or a changed move set.
