How to Play Metro-Cross
Quick start
Start with START. First, move up and down to determine the alignment of obstacles, and use A to jump over jumbo cans and hurdles. You can buy time by stepping on a small aluminum can when you land. Once you get the orange special drink, press B at the required point to accelerate. Skateboarding will help you avoid slip zones, so don't overlook this. There are obstacles at the jump destination, so be sure to check your landing spot and next course before accelerating. While paying attention to the remaining time on the screen, aim for the goal of the first round.
Controls
Cross button: Move the runner and take the course. A: Jump. B: Drink a stocked special drink. START: Game start, pause and resume. Step on the aluminum can from above, and hit the jump on the jumping platform to make a big jump. The controls are from the Famicom version, and are different from the arcade version's single jump button.
Metro-Cross — About this game
An action game where you run to the right along a long hallway and aim to reach the goal before time runs out. Huge rolling cans, tires, hurdles, and pitfalls block your path, and if you hit one, you'll lose a lot of time. Continue to prepare for the next obstacle by altering your course up or down or jumping over it. Slip zones on the floor slow you down, but a skateboard can move over them without slowing down. The small aluminum can is not just a nuisance; you can pause the timer by stepping on it, so it's a challenge to see how long it takes to pick it up. In the 4-round division, the time remaining up to that point will help the last round. The more you memorize where to step on cans and take off on jumps, rather than relying solely on immediate speed, the more you'll have more time to spare during your busy run.
