Choose a language, then enter Training before starting a longer mode. Pick any of the 16 boxers and use the passive opponent to learn movement, straight punches, hooks, dodges and blocking. Move up to approach, down to retreat and circle with Left or Right. Tap A or B for a quick hand; hold briefly and release for a stronger punch, but do not overcharge or the boxer drops the arm. Use L or R to slip to that side, or hold both shoulders to block. Once comfortable, start World mode, choose a weight class, name your amateur and follow Tyson's advice when assigning the first training schedule before the opening monthly bout.

Use the D-pad to move around the opponent: Up closes distance, Down backs away and Left/Right circle. A and B throw punches with the two hands; hold either briefly to charge a stronger shot and release before the charge expires. While charging a punch, press the matching L or R shoulder to turn it into a hook. Press L or R without charging to dodge and crouch toward that side; hold L+R together to block, though heavy blows still deal partial damage. START pauses the bout, while menus use the D-pad, A to confirm and B to return.
