How to Play Mission: Impossible

Quick start

During the introduction, press START or SELECT to reach the title. Use SELECT to choose a new game, then START to begin. In the opening streets, enter marked doors for information and look for the pass needed to advance; avoid attacking harmless pedestrians. Press START, choose an agent with left/right, then press START again to resume. Use A for the agent's regular attack and save B's limited special equipment for situations that need it.

Controls

D-pad: move the active agent. A: use the regular weapon and close conversation windows. B: use the limited special weapon or disguise; Max's bombs and Grant's gas are placed with B and activated with another B press. START: start, pause or resume. While paused in normal scrolling areas, left/right selects an agent. SELECT: title and game-over option selection. Boat section: A fires. Ski section: A attacks left, B attacks right. Password entry: up/down changes letters, left/right moves position, A confirms and B returns to the title.

Mission: Impossible — About this game

Mission: Impossible puts a three-agent team on the trail of the kidnapped Dr. O and Shannon. Each operative changes the way you approach a dangerous room: Max carries a rifle and remote bombs, Grant moves quickly and uses his fists or sleeping gas, while Nicholas combines a boomerang with temporary disguises. Exploring is as important as fighting, because information, identity cards and switches can determine whether the team gets through a security checkpoint or a trap. Ordinary pedestrians should be left alone; attacking them can remove the current agent from the mission. Most areas let you pause and switch to another available operative, but the boat and ski sections use forced scrolling and different attacks. Losing one agent does not immediately end the attempt, and agents taken out of action return after a successfully completed area. If everyone is lost, continuing or recording a password offers a way back to that area's beginning.
