How to Play Motor City Patrol

Quick start

On your first shift, press SELECT to inspect the patrol map and locate the two assigned buildings marked with red crosses; press SELECT again to return. Hold B to accelerate, steer with Left/Right and use Down to brake before turns. A small red map dot marks a speeder: switch on the siren with Up and keep the suspect on screen during the pursuit. A yellow dot marks a robber, who must be blocked until surrendering. Keep checking your buildings and save merits for repairs after the shift.

Controls

B: accelerate; A: fire the gun when ammunition is available. D-pad Left/Right: steer; Down: brake; Up: operate the siren. SELECT opens the map and closes it again; your patrol car stops while the map is open, but other city traffic continues. START pauses. To arrest a speeder, use the siren and stay on screen behind the vehicle; for a robber or public enemy, block the vehicle's path until surrender. Do not shoot ordinary citizens or speeders: shooting a civilian causes dismissal, and shooting a speeder earns a warning.

Motor City Patrol — About this game

Motor City Patrol is an overhead police-driving game built around keeping a precinct under control rather than winning a race. Your first shift covers two buildings in the financial district, but later assignments bring larger patrol areas, longer hours and more crime. The map distinguishes ordinary traffic, speeders, robbers and public enemies, while flashing building markers warn of suspicious activity. A speeder can be caught by following with the siren on; robbers require you to block their escape rather than merely sounding the siren. Between shifts, earned merits can repair your car, buy ammunition or improve steering, acceleration, brakes and top speed. Taking every upgrade is not the only concern: a wrecked patrol car, shooting an innocent person or collecting five warnings ends your career. Learning routes and deciding which pursuit is worth leaving your buildings exposed are central to each shift.
