How to Play Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer
Quick start
Complete Road to the Hamlet to learn movement, attacks and item use. In Canyon Hamlet, speak to the pub bartender for a Big Riceball, then leave through the east exit toward Table Mountain. Check your inventory and fight early enemies one at a time in corridors.
Controls
D-Pad: move. A: attack, talk or confirm. B: inventory/cancel; hold with a direction to run. X: menu. Hold Y plus a direction: face without moving. Hold R with a direction: diagonal movement. L: fire equipped arrows. A+B: wait; holding repeats turns, so watch fullness.
Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer — About this game
Shiren and his talking companion Koppa set out in search of the Golden Condor. This DS adventure rebuilds the first Shiren game around changing dungeon layouts, grid-based movement and turn-based decisions. Enemies advance when you act, leaving time to consider a corridor fight, a useful staff or an escape route. Food is as important as weapons: waiting can restore health but consumes turns and fullness. A failed expedition costs carried items and money and returns you to level 1, so learning how enemies and unidentified items behave becomes part of your progress.
