How to Play Mystery Quest

Quick start

Press START during the demonstration to reach the game screen, then START again to begin. Move Hao with Left/Right, jump with A and fire with B. Search the first castle carefully instead of walking straight past it: stand at a door and press Up to enter, look for keys when a door shows a key symbol, and shoot suspicious blocks. Pick up vitality stars and keep away from deep water unless you have an SOS raft.

Controls

Left/Right: move. Up: enter a doorway. Down: duck or climb down where applicable. A: jump. B: fire. START: advance from the demonstration, begin the game, and pause/resume during play. Keys and special equipment affect which doors and blocks you can pass; they are not separate attack-button moves.

Mystery Quest — About this game

Mystery Quest combines side-scrolling platforming with a search through four castles and their underground passages. Hao, a young magician proving himself to his master, must find the hidden talismans needed to complete his journey. Doors can lead across walls into another part of a maze, while certain blocks disappear when shot or struck with the right equipment. Keys and magical items open possibilities that are easy to miss on a first visit. The power boots and helmet help break blocks, a scroll strengthens your shots, and stars restore a little vitality. Exploration also carries risks: skulls and dangerous floors drain energy, and deep water is fatal without the single-use SOS raft. Watch for suspicious scenery, remember where passages lead, and collect the castle’s treasure before heading out.
