How to Play Rockin' Kats
Quick start
Start from the title and use the Control Pad to choose a channel, then accept the confirmation. Channel 1 is a useful place to learn A for jumping and B for the Punch Gun. Aim with the Control Pad while firing. For extra height, jump, then punch downward near the ground as Willy descends. Catch a rail with the gun, press B again to spin and B once more to launch away. Collect coins for the shop; SELECT displays the equipment you have bought so you can choose what to use.
Controls
Left/Right: move. Down: duck. A: jump. Down+A: drop from a raised platform. B: fire the Punch Gun; combine with the Control Pad to aim. Hold B to catch suitable falling objects; release B to throw. After catching a rail, B starts a spin and another B launches Willy away. SELECT: view/select purchased equipment. START: begin and pause.
Rockin' Kats — About this game
Willy's rescue mission is built around a weapon with more uses than its cartoon boxing glove suggests. The Punch Gun can hit enemies, catch objects and attach to scenery, making it just as important for crossing a stage as for fighting through one. A downward punch can turn a landing into a higher leap, while hanging from a rail opens up spinning moves. This European edition presents its stages as television channels rather than a fixed procession of levels. The first four can be attempted in a chosen order, but later selections become tougher. Coins bring another decision between episodes: spend them at the shop on useful equipment, then select the purchased item during play. Look for ways to exploit the scenery before assuming that a gap is beyond Willy's reach.
