How to Play AI Shougi 3
Quick start
Press START at the title, select 新規対局 with A, then select 対局開始 in the match settings. The initial setup puts the human first at the bottom and the computer second at the top, with no handicap. Move the cursor to a piece, press A to pick it up, move to its destination and press A again. Use START to open the match menu for a hint or takeback.
Controls
Move the cursor with the D-pad, stick or C buttons. A confirms menu choices and picks up or places a piece, including drops from your captured pieces. B cancels a choice or returns a selected piece to its original square. START begins from the title and opens the match menu during play. Choose promotion or non-promotion in the prompt when it appears.
AI Shougi 3 — About this game
This shogi program centres on playing and examining positions on the board. Set the computer's strength and the handicap, or assign both sides to people for a shared-controller or two-controller match. Select a piece, move the cursor and confirm its destination; captured pieces can also be dropped back onto the board. Beginners can turn on legal-move displays and warnings, while the match menu offers takebacks and a best-move hint. Position editing lets you prepare a particular situation for practice. Game records and saved positions provide a way to return to a line of play on the original hardware using a Controller Pak.
