How to Play All-Star Baseball 2001
Quick start
Press START, open Game Options and set Batting Style and Pitching Style to Easy for the controls below. Return to MLB Play and choose Exhibition. Select the teams with directions and A, review pre-game options, then highlight Play Ball and press A. Try Batting Practice later to work specifically on swing timing.
Controls
With Easy styles: batting A makes a contact swing, B a power swing; stick directs the hit. Pitching stick selects zone, A throws a strike and B a ball. Fielding stick moves, A dives, B jumps, Z bursts and the C button for a base throws there. On basepaths L advances all runners and R returns them. Classic uses different batting and pitching inputs.

All-Star Baseball 2001 lets you adjust how much work each pitch demands. Easy batting puts contact and power swings on separate buttons, while Classic keeps the aiming target and swing selection. Pitching has its own Easy and Classic choice. Beyond those controls, stamina affects accuracy and hot or cold streaks change a player’s performance. Arcade offers extra pitch types and heightened effects; Simulation keeps a different pace and pitch selection. Batting Practice helps with timing, Home Run Derby focuses on distance, and MLB Play offers exhibitions, seasons and playoffs. General Manager adds roster decisions. Fielding assistance can reduce the chase while leaving throws to you, making the setup useful to learn before committing to a long season.
