How to Play All-Star Baseball 99
Quick start
Choose Start at the title, then MLB Play and Exhibition. Use L/R to switch between the home and away team areas, directions to select teams and A to confirm. Review the pre-game options and select Play Ball with A. For a gentler start, use Auto fielding: the computer fields the ball, but you still choose the throw.
Controls
Batting: D-pad moves the target, A swings and B toggles Power/Contact. Pitching: C selects pitch, D-pad aims and A delivers; B pitches out. Fielding: stick or D-pad moves, A dives, B jumps and the C for a base throws there. L or Z advances all runners, R returns them. START pauses.

All-Star Baseball 99 turns each at-bat into a combination of aiming and timing. Move the target toward the pitch, choose contact or power, then decide when to swing. On defense, selecting pitches and placing them is only part of the job: once the ball is hit you must decide where to throw. Fielding options can hand the pursuit to the computer without taking away that throw, providing a gentler way to learn. Arcade favors a faster game with fewer elements to manage, while Simulation gives you more control. Quickplay lets the computer arrange an exhibition; MLB Play adds selected matchups, a full season and playoffs. Local exhibitions support up to four participants.
