How to Play Bass Masters 2000
Quick start
Original-game starting guide: Choose Exhibition with the D-pad and A. Create or load an angler, select DONE, then set lake, conditions and tackle on Game Setup and choose Done. Face your intended spot, pull the stick back to move the casting target, and release it when the target reaches the desired distance.
Controls
Original-game controls for reference: Default fishing controls: pull the stick back and release to cast; after a bite, pull back to set the hook. A reels slowly, B quickly and A+B at medium speed. During a fight, Z tightens drag and R loosens it; L cuts the line. The D-pad moves the trolling boat, C-down toggles underwater/above-water view and START pauses. Z opens the menu wheel outside the fight.

Original-game reference: Bass Masters 2000 mixes tournament angling with short challenges. Exhibition lets you set up a lake outing, while Tournament supplies the waters and conditions and rewards progress with boats and equipment. Speed Fishing begins with three minutes and adds time for each catch; Casting Game tests how accurately you can hit targets on the water. During ordinary fishing, the fishfinder helps locate bass and the wind affects your cast. Three retrieve speeds and adjustable drag give you control once a fish bites. Watch the tension meter and loosen the reel when it turns red instead of forcing a catch and breaking the line.
