How to Play Bug's Life, A

Quick start

On the vine menu, move the stick left or right to an available level leaf and press A. Learn Flik’s jump and berry throw, then look for a loose seed. Pick it up with B, set it down where needed and jump onto it to plant it; seed tokens expand the available colors and plants.

Controls

Stick moves Flik. A jumps; press A again in the air for a butt bounce. B throws berries or picks up/drops seeds according to context. Near or holding a seed, Z changes its color when unlocked; A while holding it cycles available plants. C buttons adjust the camera; START pauses.

Bug's Life, A — About this game

A Bug’s Life follows Flik after trouble with the colony’s food supply sends him searching for help against the grasshoppers. Its platform stages turn grass, roots and other small objects into a large landscape of hazards and routes. Flik throws berries at enemies and collects grain, FLIK letters and tokens along the way. Seeds make exploration more than a jumping challenge: colored seed tokens unlock plant choices, letting you grow useful platforms and other aids. Moving a loose seed to a better spot and selecting the right plant can open a route that Flik cannot cross on his own.
