How to Play GT 64: Championship Edition
Quick start
Choose TIME TRIAL with the stick and A, then FREE RUN. Pick a car with automatic transmission (AT) and a course. Select START, adjust CAR SETUP if needed, then choose FREE RUN START. Use this untimed practice to learn braking points before entering Championship.
Controls
Stick or Control Pad steers; A accelerates and B brakes. With manual transmission, R shifts up and L or Z shifts down. START pauses. In menus, stick/pad highlights choices, A confirms and B cancels.
GT 64: Championship Edition — About this game
GT 64: Championship Edition combines circuit racing with detailed car setup. Tire softness trades durability for grip, while suspension, spoilers and gear ratios change how a car responds to a course. Championship races begin with qualifying, so a clean lap can improve your starting position before the main event. Longer 24-lap races introduce fuel and pit stops, and deteriorating performance makes maintenance part of the contest. Time Trial offers timed laps or unrestricted practice, while Battle lets you face the computer or another driver. Small setup changes can be tested between runs to find a balance between speed, stability and cornering.
