How to Play International Superstar Soccer 98
Quick start
Choose Training to practise the basics, or Open Game for one match. In Open Game, select the player count, teams and stadium with the stick and A, then choose Start game. Use the Type 1 layout while learning short passes and shot power before adding through balls and tactics.
Controls
Type 1: stick moves/dribbles; A passes; B shoots, with hold time setting power; C down dashes; C up sends a through pass. Hold R with C up for a lofted through pass. On defense, stick+A challenges and stick+C left slides. START pauses. Controller editing also offers Types 2 and 3 with different buttons.
International Superstar Soccer 98 — About this game
International Superstar Soccer ’98 combines direct control on the pitch with team preparation off it. You guide runs with the analog stick, choose between short and through passes, and control shot power by the length of a button press. Formations, tactics and defensive settings let you adjust how the team supports those moves. Open Game offers a single match, while International Cup and World League provide longer campaigns. Scenarios ask you to win under assigned conditions, and Training isolates the basics for practice. Up to four local players can join, with competitive play in Open Game and shared-team play in the cup and league.
