How to Play International Track & Field 2000
Quick start
Press START and select Trial with the stick/pad and A. Choose an event, enable each player with A, then select country and name. Begin with the 100m and read its tutorial. Wait for GO before tapping; two false starts disqualify you.
Controls
Menus: stick/pad selects, A confirms, B returns. In the 100m, rapidly press C buttons or A/B after GO. Long jump uses the same run-up, then hold Z near the line to build the angle and release Z to jump. L or R can replace Z. Other events have different controls; START pauses and shows the current event’s commands.
International Track & Field 2000 — About this game
International Track & Field 2000 asks for different skills in each event rather than one universal button rhythm. Sprinting rewards rapid inputs after the start signal, while long jump adds a takeoff angle and the risk of crossing the line. Other contests introduce their own timing or directional tasks, explained by a tutorial before play. Trial begins with ten events, and medals unlock four more. Championship chooses eight events at random and makes you tackle them in a fixed order, comparing national standings as points accumulate. Up to four players can join, with simultaneous or alternating turns depending on the discipline.
