How to Play Madden Football 64
Quick start
Set ROOKIE in Game Options, then choose EXHIBITION. Pick teams and match settings, select PLAY GAME or press START, and move your controller icon under your team. Confirm with A or START and follow the coin toss. On a passing play, A snaps, then A shows receiver symbols; press the matching button to pass.
Controls
D-pad moves. Before the snap A starts the play; after the snap A calls up passing symbols, then the receiver's displayed button throws. Hold that button for a bullet pass. With a runner A bursts forward and B dives. Defensively A selects the nearest defender and B dives to tackle. START pauses; menus use A/START to confirm and B to return.

Madden Football 64 builds American football around selecting a play and reacting as it develops. Pick a running or passing plan, look for an open receiver and decide between a lofted throw and a hard bullet pass. On defense, switch toward the ball and choose a well-timed tackle rather than leave gaps. Exhibition sets up a single matchup with weather and quarter-length choices. Season and Custom Season extend the contest, including realigned divisions with current or classic teams. Fantasy Draft lets you choose your own players before competing in a tournament, while difficulty and controller settings help you learn the field.
