How to Play Madden NFL 2000
Quick start
Choose TRADITIONAL, then EXHIBITION, and confirm with A or START. Set ROOKIE and the quarter length, pick home and away teams, then move your controller icon beside your side and continue. In standard controls use A for the snap, A for receiver icons and the displayed button for a pass.
Controls
Stick/D-pad moves. Choose formation/set with directions and A, then a play with A, B or C-down. A snaps and, after the snap, displays receivers; press A/B/C-down/C-left/C-right according to the icon. Tap for a lob, hold for a bullet pass. Defensively A switches players and C-left power-tackles. START pauses. One-Button configuration E uses a different scheme.

Madden NFL 2000 pairs its regular football game with an Arcade alternative built around simpler playbooks, heavier hits and quick evasive moves. In standard play, call a formation and a play, snap the ball and bring up receiver icons before choosing the throw. Tap for a lob or hold for a hard bullet pass. A separate One-Button option simplifies actions for beginners. Beyond an exhibition or season, Franchise puts a created coach in charge for up to thirty seasons, with trades, draft choices and free-agent signings shaping the roster as performance affects the coaching job.
