How to Play Madden NFL 2002
Quick start
From the Main menu's Game Mode selection choose EXHIBITION and press A or START. Use up/down to cycle teams and left/right to choose the home or away entry, then confirm. Move the controller to your side and press START for the coin toss. Pick a play, use A to snap and again to show receivers, then press its matching button.
Controls
Stick/D-pad moves. Directions and A select formation/set; A/B/C-down select a play. A snaps and shows receiver icons; press the displayed receiver button to pass, tapping for a lob or holding for a bullet. Defense: A switches and B dive-tackles. Kicking: A stops direction, then A stops power. START pauses. One-Button E is a separate configuration.
Madden NFL 2002 — About this game
Madden NFL 2002 adds a second decision to kicking: stop the direction marker first, then time the power meter. Training helps you learn the plays, while Two-Minute Drill lets you run or defend for points. A Mulligan can repeat the previous play, but its allowance is limited and using one costs a timeout, making the choice part of game management. Exhibition gives a single matchup, Season follows the schedule and Franchise carries team building into the off-season through contracts, trades, draft picks and free agents. Standard passing still uses receiver icons, with a tap for a lob and a hold for a hard throw.
