How to Play Mario Kart 64
Quick start
Select one player, Mario GP and 50cc, then choose a driver and the Mushroom Cup. Hold A to accelerate; practise taking bends before using items from the coloured boxes.
Controls
Stick: steer; A: accelerate; B: brake; R: hop and hold through a turn to drift; Z: use item; START: pause.
Mario Kart 64 — About this game
Eight racers compete on tracks filled with sharp bends, moving obstacles and item boxes. Grand Prix groups races into cups, while Time Trials rewards a clean racing line. Items can change the order in seconds, so cornering and choosing when to attack matter as much as speed. Battle mode replaces the finish line with balloon-popping contests.
