How to Play Mario Tennis
Quick start
Press START, select the number of players and choose characters. Pick Exhibition, set a singles or doubles match and choose the match settings. On your serve, press A or B to toss the ball and press again to hit it.
Controls
Control Stick: move and aim; A: topspin; B: slice; A then B: lob; B then A: drop shot; A+B: flat shot or smash as the situation permits; Z: cancel charging; START: pause. Double-tap A or B for a stronger shot.
Mario Tennis — About this game
Mario Tennis builds rallies around court position, timing and shot selection. Characters differ in movement and hitting style, while court surfaces alter ball speed and bounce. Exhibition offers a direct match, Tournament tests a run of opponents, and special modes add targets or unusual rules. A forceful return is useful, but a well-placed lob or drop shot can make an opponent cover much more ground. Charging adds power while reducing your freedom to move.
