How to Play Morita Shougi 64
Quick start
Enter the game room, 対局室, and choose 簡単対局 for a simple match. Select a computer level from 1 to 6; this setup gives you the first move, no handicap and unlimited thinking time. Move the cursor to a piece, select it with A, choose a destination and press A to place it. For other conditions, start from 詳細設定 instead.
Controls
Use the D-pad to move the cursor. A picks up and places a piece. B returns a selected piece to its original position and dismisses messages. START opens the in-match menu. A second controller operates the second side when the participants are assigned as player 1 and player 2 with both controllers connected.
Morita Shougi 64 — About this game
The game room offers two approaches to a shogi match. Simple Match starts an even game with you moving first against the computer and no time limit; select one of six computer levels and concentrate on the board. Detailed Settings lets you choose the opponents, handicap, time allowance and byoyomi countdown instead. Human opponents can share control, or use separate controllers when each side is assigned accordingly. Select and place pieces with the cursor, and open the match menu when needed. On the original hardware, a saved record on the Controller Pak also allows a suspended game to resume from its last recorded move.
