How to Play Mortal Kombat 4

Quick start

Choose ARCADE, then 1 ON 1 KOMBAT. Select a fighter with A and choose a difficulty on the Destiny Screen. Start by practicing single strikes, blocks and sidesteps. Keep an eye on the Run Meter rather than trying to rush continuously.

Controls

Default: D-pad or stick moves; up jumps and down crouches. B is high punch, A low punch, C-up high kick and C-right low kick. C-left or Z blocks; C-down runs; L/R sidestep inward/outward. START pauses; A confirms menus.

Mortal Kombat 4 — About this game

Mortal Kombat 4 keeps punches and kicks divided into high and low attacks, then adds separate inward and outward sidesteps for positioning. Standard matches go to the first fighter who wins two rounds, with remaining health deciding a timed-out round. The Run Meter limits rushing and combo opportunities, so pressure needs pauses as well as attacks. Beyond one-on-one Arcade, two-on-two, team and endurance formats change how many fighters must survive the contest.
