How to Play NBA Live 99
Quick start
On Game Setup, choose Arcade. Highlight the home or away team with up/down and change teams with left/right. Set the arcade options and press START; on User Setup move your controller icon to a side and press START for tip-off. Use A to pass and hold/release B to shoot.
Controls
D-pad or stick moves. B jumps/shoots: press to jump, release to shoot. A passes on offense and switches defenders; C-left sprints. Defensively C-down steals and C-right hand-checks. With the ball, C-up calls for a screen. START pauses; menus use A confirm/B back and Z Quick Menu.

NBA Live 99 pairs team basketball with a quicker Arcade alternative. Exhibition, Season and Playoffs let you choose the length and shape of the competition, while the three-point shootout focuses entirely on outside scoring. Arcade offers a no-rules matchup with switches for monster dunks and special ball graphics and sounds. On court, aim passes toward teammates, call for a screen or use a crossover and spin to create space. Shooting depends on releasing the button after the jump, and defensive steals and hand checks use different inputs from attacking dribble moves.
