How to Play Perfect Dark
Quick start
Original-game starting guide: The original N64 game requires an Expansion Pak for solo missions and Institute training. Create a New Agent file with A, then choose training or Solo Missions. Begin on Agent, read the briefing and objectives, and practise using terminals with B before rushing into combat.
Controls
Original-game controls for reference: Layout 1.1: the stick moves forward/back and turns; C-left/right sidestep and C-up/down adjust view. Z fires. Tap B to reload or interact; hold B to change secondary weapon mode. A cycles weapons; hold A and move the stick for the quick menu. L/R aim, START pauses. Other layouts change these controls.

Original-game reference: Perfect Dark follows Joanna Dark's investigation into dataDyne, pairing first-person combat with mission objectives and spy equipment. A weapon's secondary function can change its role, while devices help with tasks that cannot be solved by shooting. The Carrington Institute offers training in firearms, equipment and movement. Beyond solo missions, the original includes cooperative play and a configurable Combat Simulator with computer-controlled opponents, giving you room to practise different tactics and match settings.
