How to Play Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
Quick start
Choose Free Skate with the D-pad and A, pick a skater and available level, and learn without a timer. Hold A or C-down to crouch, then release for an ollie. Jump toward a rail and hold C-up to grind. Try an up-down manual on flat ground, balancing with up/down. Move to Career when you can land a short combo reliably.
Controls
Default: D-pad directs movement. Hold A/C-down and release to ollie. In the air, direction with C-right, C-left or B performs tricks; near a rail hold C-up to grind. Tap up-down or down-up for manuals, then balance with up/down. R on landing a vert trick performs a revert to continue a combo. START pauses; menu A selects.

Repeating the same trick reduces its value, so variation matters alongside balance and clean landings. Career advances through goals and competition placings, unlocking levels and better stats. Single Session sets a two-minute score chase, while Free Skate removes the timer on available levels. Two-player modes include obstacle-tagging Graffiti and score-based Trick Attack, and the park editor lets you arrange your own skating space.
