How to Play Doubutsu Banchou
Quick start
Begin a new run and read the opening action prompts. Move around the starting area before approaching a smaller animal. Learn the prototype's targeting and tackle prompts, watch your health and use defeated prey to develop the creature rather than challenging the largest enemy immediately.
Controls
Use the stick to move and turn. For combat, follow the on-screen target and tackle prompts, then bite defeated prey; pull away to tear off food. Guard against an incoming attack and jump to reposition. These describe the common actions of the same game; use the prototype's prompts for their contextual buttons.
Doubutsu Banchou — About this game
Doubutsu Banchou is the recovered N64 development version of the blocky creature-survival game later released as Cubivore. You guide an animal through a world of predators and prey, looking for opponents it can overcome and eating defeated creatures to develop its body. Choosing when to approach, guard or retreat matters more than attacking everything in sight. The prototype preserves an earlier look at the animals and interface. It is a historical cartridge build from the game's development, not a separate finished 64DD release.
