How to Play Freak Boy

Quick start

Press START at the title and go through the open doorway in the dungeon hub. Explore the first area, find an equipment piece and jump onto it to absorb it. Add another piece to see the first move upward. Use the Pop action to remove the top piece and change the arrangement.

Controls

Use directional movement to approach doors and equipment. Jumping onto a piece adds it at the foot and shifts older pieces upward; Pop ejects the top one. START begins at the title; during play it activates a debug super-jump, so it is not a normal pause button.

Freak Boy — About this game

This early N64 prototype begins in a dungeon hub, with one doorway open and three others waiting for missing pieces. The hero collects equipment by jumping onto it. A new piece enters the foot position and pushes earlier pieces up through the body to the head, so the order of collection changes the arrangement. The Pop action ejects the top piece. Drill equipment illustrates the idea: its body position changes the direction in which it works. Explore the opening area and experiment with combinations in a small, unfinished adventure rather than a completed campaign.
