Super Mario 64 - Disk Version — About this game
This disk prototype was shown at Spaceworld 1996 to demonstrate 64DD loading. It follows the familiar castle-and-course adventure, not a separate Mario sequel. The original disk build has a known crash involving Wiggler, so this historical version is not a promise of a complete retail run. Mario searches Peach’s castle for the Power Stars stolen by Bowser. Paintings lead to courses with several missions, from racing and climbing to collecting red coins. New stars unlock more rooms, while careful jumps, camera adjustments and underwater exploration reveal routes that are easy to miss on a first visit.
