Quick start
At the presentation screen, press START to reach the board, then START to open the main menu. In GAME, set White to Human and Black to Computer, enable BEGINNER MODE and use LEVELS to choose an easier opponent. Select NEW GAME. Controls
Stick or D-pad moves the hand; A picks up and puts down a piece, or selects a menu item. START shows/hides the main menu. R replays the last move; B requests advice or cancels a move. Z interrupts the engine’s search and forces its move. In menus B returns to the previous page. Tutorial lessons use A to advance and B to leave; the D-pad scrolls text.
Virtual Chess 64 — About this game
Virtual Chess 64 pairs a chess engine with a tutorial covering the board, pieces, rules, tactics and endings. Choose who controls White and Black, adjust the computer’s level and turn on Beginner Mode to see available moves when you touch a piece. You can switch between a clear 2D board and a 3D view with animated captures. Replaying the last move helps review what happened, while position editing lets you build a particular problem instead of always starting from the opening. Games and preferences can be saved to a Controller Pak. The options also support several games at once; begin with one board while learning the controls.
