How to Play WCW Backstage Assault
Quick start
Press START and choose Exhibition. Set ONE PLAYER and EASY, confirm with A and select both wrestlers. C-right on a highlighted wrestler opens the move list. Pick a backstage area with A, adjust the handicap if needed and confirm to begin. Learn B grapples, C-down punches and A kicks before introducing weapons.
Controls
D-pad moves, R runs, START pauses. Unarmed with both wrestlers standing: B grapples, C-down punches, A kicks, C-left uses a special/reversal and L blocks. B near a weapon picks it up or drops it. Holding a weapon, A strikes overhead, C-down swings and L throws it. Against an opponent on their back, L pins. Move effects change with grapples and opponent position.
WCW Backstage Assault — About this game
WCW Backstage Assault moves the fight out of the ring and into backstage spaces. Grapples, ledge attacks and weapons work alongside punches and kicks; most weapons break after repeated use, and smashing objects can reveal more. Crowd response and varied, difficult moves shift the Momentum meter, while a wrestler's name color signals remaining stamina. Maximum momentum opens the way to a finishing hold and a pin attempt. Exhibition lets you choose an opponent and rules; Hardcore Challenge follows a series of bouts toward three title belts, unlocking venues, characters and weapons. A wrestler creator adds another way to build a contender.
