How to Play Neopets Puzzle Adventure
Quick start
Touch the title screen, choose single player and Create New, then set species, colour, name and gender. Enter Story Mode and tap a starred location on the map. In the first battles, tap a valid square that traps enemy tokens between two of yours. Check bonus and locked spaces, and equip a Petpet before expecting its ability to appear in battle.
Controls
Drag the stylus to inspect the world map and tap a destination to travel. Tap a legal board square to place a token; tap a ready Petpet to use its ability. A advances quest dialogue, B backs out/cancels, L/R toggle game statistics, the D-pad scrolls the world map or navigates the keyboard, and START pauses. Most Petpets become ready after five turns and can be used only once in that battle.
Neopets Puzzle Adventure — About this game
Create a Neopet and follow an adventure through Neopia, where encounters are settled on a token board. Placing a token traps opposing pieces between your new piece and another of your colour, flipping the enclosed line. Converting several lines and landing on numbered bonus spaces adds experience, while different board shapes and locked spaces change which positions are useful. Petpets bring special abilities once equipped and ready, with most needing five turns before their first use; a used companion then sleeps for the rest of that battle. This makes the team you bring and the moment you activate it part of the board strategy. Story Mode follows the mystery of a meteor storm in Shenkuu, and separate mini-games offer other ways to earn experience. The DS version lets you explore by dragging the map and tapping destinations, then place battle tokens directly with the stylus.
