How to Play 8 Eyes
Quick start
Choose one or two players with Left/Right, use SELECT to choose INITIATE and press START. On the castle screen, move Cutrus’s selection with A/B and press START. Begin by learning the sword’s reach and using the falcon to operate the entrance switch.
Controls
D-pad: walk and use stairs. A: jump; B: sword. Up+A: selected special weapon, if Item energy is sufficient. Solo Up+B: release/recall Cutrus; while flying Down+B: falcon attack. In 2P the second controller handles Cutrus and can direct his flight. START: pause/show weapons; SELECT: choose weapon, or show found clues on the castle screen.
8 Eyes — About this game
Orin the falconer enters the dukes’ castles with a weapon that requires close timing and a partner who reaches places he cannot. His falcon Cutrus attacks enemies and operates distant switches, so progress depends on coordinating swordplay, stairs and flight rather than simply clearing everything in front of you. In solo play, release and recall the bird with commands while Orin stays under direct control. In simultaneous cooperative play, the second player flies Cutrus freely while the first handles Orin. Both characters have their own energy, and special weapons consume a separate Item meter. The first seven castles can be selected, but the sword won from one boss is more effective against a particular next opponent. Investigate the clues instead of assuming every route will be equally manageable. Hidden scrolls also help solve the final jewel arrangement. Note the passwords after victories to keep the cleared castles, and check your collected clues from the selection screen.
