Adventure Island IV — About this game
Higgins begins with a bone weapon and searches linked regions for his missing dinosaur companions. Progress depends on exploring and returning with the right tool: a hammer breaks rocks, a torch reveals dark passages and a water gun can revive wilted leaves. The old hunger countdown gives way to hearts. Collecting eight fruits restores one heart, while two heart fragments increase maximum health, making side paths useful beyond scoring. Weapons, tools and rescued mounts expand the routes available; medals also improve abilities, including the dash that Higgins cannot use initially. START opens equipment selection and SELECT shows the island map. Returning to the bed at home restores health and supplies a password for resuming later. Finding a route, remembering a blocked passage and preparing suitable equipment now matter alongside accurate jumps and boss fights.
