Higgins starts without a weapon and must cross forests, caves and mountain paths to rescue his kidnapped sweetheart. The eight areas each contain four rounds, with a boss blocking the end of the fourth. Vitality keeps draining even when no enemy touches you, so fruit is part of the route rather than a score-only detour; milk refills the meter. Some obstacles drain energy, while enemies, fire and deep falls can cost a life outright. Numbered signs mark sections from which a spare life can restart. Eggs supply axes, temporary invincibility and a skateboard that keeps rolling, but an eggplant speeds up energy loss instead of helping. B both throws a collected weapon and accelerates movement, making the approach to a gap important. Hidden eggs offer bonuses, and finding the Hudson Bee unlocks the special continue command.
