SYD flies over a vertically scrolling battlefield with two distinct basic weapons. Lasers deal with aircraft while missiles reach ground installations, including the pyramid containers that hide useful letters. S, L and M improve speed, laser fire and missiles; E builds the energy reserve used by special armor. Collecting a symbol is a decision rather than an automatic reward: reversed letters can weaken the craft, C strips away accumulated power and R sends the flight backwards. With enough energy and an available armor, SELECT opens a separate equipment screen. Move SYD over the desired shape and press SELECT again to attach it, or confirm over an empty area to leave without equipping. The eight forms include wide fire, guided ground shots, a protective shield and screen-filling lightning. They consume energy differently and detach when it runs out. Bosses also require the correct weapon and a vulnerable point, so shooting continuously without checking the target is not enough. Preserving useful upgrades and saving armor energy for difficult encounters gives the route its tactical rhythm.
