How to Play Argus
Quick start
At the title, press SELECT to choose 1-PLAYER or 2-PLAYERS, then START. In the opening flight use B against the approaching craft and A on ground panels. Watch where your shadow lies. After the boss, switch attention to the landing graph and make small height corrections toward the runway.
Controls
D-pad moves Wol-Arg. A fires the ground weapon; B fires the air weapon. During landing, Up raises altitude, Down lowers it, and Left/Right adjusts position. SELECT chooses player count at the title; START begins and pauses/resumes play.
Argus — About this game
Wol-Arg advances through enemy formations while the landscape can also scroll sideways. The two firing buttons have distinct jobs: the beam handles airborne targets, and the ground weapon destroys installations, power panels and the exposed core of Mega Argus. Shooting three P panels strengthens the air weapon; three B panels provide a brief protective barrier. L panels instead build a bonus that depends on landing successfully. The airborne weapon changes between odd and even scenes, including a forward pattern and a spreading cannon pattern. Aligning the aircraft’s shadow with a fighter-shaped ground shadow briefly creates the invulnerable Wol-Armor robot. The end-of-scene landing changes the task entirely: follow the height graph while adjusting position to reach the runway. A failed landing forfeits the bonus without costing a life. The Famicom manual describes eighteen scenes, then a repeating sequence of scenes thirteen through eighteen. Two players take turns flying rather than sharing the battlefield.
