How to Play Astro Robo Sasa

Quick start

Use SELECT on the title screen to choose 1 PLAYER, then START. On the first screen, stand below an energy pack, aim down and tap A to lift off. Release fire as you approach, turn the gun to correct your drift, and touch the pack instead of shooting it.

Controls

D-pad: aim; Left/Right also walks on solid ground. A: fire, with airborne recoil opposite the shot; Down+A lifts off. B: transfer 100 energy to the partner in a two-player game. SELECT chooses one or two players at the title; START begins. During play, SELECT pauses with the musical theme.

Astro Robo Sasa — About this game

Sasa can walk when his feet touch a surface, but flight demands a different habit: aim away from your destination and fire. Shooting downward lifts him off the ground, while airborne shots push him opposite the gun’s direction. Aiming alone cannot cancel his momentum. This makes collecting the energy packs in each fixed screen a matter of planning a route and correcting it with short bursts. Every shot costs one energy point, and enemy contact can consume much more. Touching a pack restores energy; shooting it removes it without that benefit, even though the stage still advances once every pack is gone. Energy carries into the next screen, so a careless clear can leave a difficult recovery ahead. Across 16 stages, strong warehouse gravity, underwater buoyancy and currents, weightless space and the final black hole change the same basic movement. A second player controls Nana simultaneously. The pair can transfer energy in batches of 100, but must avoid colliding with one another.
