How to Play Akumajou Densetsu
Quick start
At the title choose the opening or password entry with SELECT and confirm with START. For a new game enter a name, then finish the name screen. On the first approach, break candles for whip upgrades, learn stair entry and leave room for jump landings. Use the first route choice deliberately: the tower detour leads toward Grant. When a partner joins, try SELECT on safe ground before testing the new ability near a gap.
Controls
D-pad: move, crouch and use stairs; A: jump; B: whip or the current character’s attack; Up+B: use a secondary weapon when equipped and supplied with hearts. START pauses; SELECT changes between Trevor and the recruited partner. Alucard uses Down+A to transform into a bat, consuming hearts while flying.
Akumajou Densetsu — About this game
This Virtual Console edition presents the Japanese NES adventure. The controls below describe the original A/B, START and SELECT game actions. Trevor Belmont follows a branching journey rather than a single fixed procession of stages. His whip, careful stair movement and heart-powered secondary weapons remain essential, but a rescued ally can change how a route is approached. Grant scales walls and ceilings, Sypha brings magic and Alucard offers bat flight; Trevor travels with only one of them at a time. Switching characters shares the same life meter, so changing partners does not heal damage. Forks determine which places and potential allies appear. Candles provide upgrades and supplies, while pits and awkward landings demand deliberate jumps. Password entry belongs to the original cartridge flow; it is not a save-anywhere system. One person controls Trevor and his current partner, rather than two people playing them simultaneously.
